BETA Gallery opens "Travel archetypes," its first photo exhibition. Each photograph traces a domestic, political, social, economic, or environmental scope. Each piece is a transformation of the psyche that dislocates what appears in the photograph, the agent who took it and those who approach to it. These works are a symbolic, intimate, and a small sample of individuation processes. They face the uniformity of a generation that seems to be immersed in imitation and excess of information. 

This group of photographers met in New York but the places where they photographed are irrelevant, what is important is the intention to explore the multiplicity of stages in any travel and the complexity of the creative process. Each work is an Archetype, or several, or all, at the end, those archetypes are operating forces and creative sources.

These photographs are an alternative to rethink our relationship with algorithms. We are in the ages of post-photo, adapted photographs to our online life -Joan Fontcuberta Villà (1955, Barcelona). Every time we take a picture with our cell phones and upload it to social media, we are cataloged by an algorithm that classifies us and takes away a piece of what is known as our humanity. Although we are in this algorithmic dynamic, there are still some moments and photographs that allow us to interact with something metaphysical; there is when we can approach the concept of freedom.
Curated by Daniela Camero, this exhibition brings together 27 analog and digital photographs  in a 35mm and 120mm format.

Galería BETA  abre al público su primera muestra fotográfica: “Arquetipos del viaje”. Cada fotografía rastrea el ámbito domestico, político, social, económico o medioambiental de algún lugar del mundo, pero es al fin y al cabo un proceso de transformación de la psique. Un proceso que irrumpe no solo en aquello que aparece en la fotografía misma, o en quien la tomó, también en quienes se aproximan ella. 

Todos los trabajos exhibidos son expresiones simbólicas, intimas y una pequeña muestra de procesos de individuación. Esta exhibición  se enfrentan a la uniformidad de una generación sumida en la imitación y en el exceso de información. Los aquí participantes se encontraron  en Nueva York, los lugares donde se hicieron las fotografías son realmente irrelevantes, lo trascendental está en la intención de explorar la multiplicidad de relaciones entre sujeto, objeto y contexto. Cada trabajo explora un Arquetipo, o varios, o todos, son  al fin y al cabo fuerzas operantes que funcionan como fuentes creativas

Este grupo de fotografías son una alternativa para repensar nuestra relación con los algoritmos en los tiempos de lo que Joan Fontcuberta Villà (1955, Barcelona)  denominó como  la “Postfotografía,”  la fotografía adaptada a nuestra vida online. Cada vez que tomamos una foto con nuestro teléfono celular y la subimos a redes sociales,  los algoritmos nos catalogan, nos clasifican y en alguna medida nos quitan algún grado de aquello que se conoce como humanidad. La mayor parte del tiempo nos encontramos inmersos en está dinámica algorítmica, pero hay momentos  y fotografías donde  encontramos algo que nos une a lo metafísico, es ahí donde podemos indagar sobre el concepto de libertad.
