Natalia Castillo, Bogotá. 1993

This project seeks to see the space that surrounds the objects, imagining the air that encircles them as a solid matter, which must be displaced so that the objects can be.

Castillo seeks to reticulate and "order" the activities of living, and thus obtain some measures (x meters of thread or x cm3 of air).

"This idea of ​​being able to measure life is  as captivating as it is impossible, we can not quantify or pretend to order the actions of inhabiting, since there are so many ways of living as people in the world."

The main focus of her work has been the house and the concept of inhabiting. Her intention is to understand how we relate to space and how it affects our behavior. She has developed her work from an intimate place, in order to take it to the community through various plastic processes, in the exhibition space as well as interventions in public space.

The conceptualization and clarification of ideas in parallel to a plastic exploration, is essential during her creative process. Architecture has been fundamental throughout her research and is based on it for the creation of installations that take the viewer into account.

Her artistic production uses three dimensional media such as sculptures and objects, as well as installations that can fit and shelter  the viewer, in order to re-signify the notion of space that each person has.

Este proyecto busca ver el espacio que rodea los objetos, imaginando el aire que los envuelve como una materia maciza, que se tiene que desplazar para que los objetos puedan ser. 

Castillo busca reticular y “ordenar” las actividades propias del habitar, y así obtener unas medidas (x metros de hilo o x cm3 de aire). 

"Esta idea de poder medir la vida es cautivadora en tanto es imposible, no podemos cuantificar ni pretender ordenar las acciones del habitar, ya que existen tantas formas de habitar como personas en el mundo."

El eje principal de su trabajo ha sido la casa y el concepto del habitar. Su intención es la de entender cómo nos relacionamos con el espacio y cómo éste afecta nuestro comportamiento. Ha desarrollado su obra desde un lugar íntimo, con el fin de llevarlo a la colectividad mediante diversos procesos plásticos, en sala e intervenciones en espacio publico.

La conceptualización y aclaración de ideas en paralelo a una exploración plástica, es esencial durante su proceso creativo. La arquitectura ha sido fundamental a lo largo de su investigación y se basa en ella para la creación de instalaciones que tengan en cuenta al espectador.

Su producción artística utiliza medios de tres dimensiones como esculturas y objetos, así como instalaciones que puedan resguardar al espectador, con el fin de re-significar la noción de espacio que cada persona tiene.
