John Mario Ortiz aborda trabajos en fotografía, escultura y animación. Sus series comprenden temas como la arquitectura de los llamados barrios de invasión, que se esparcen sobre la ciudad de Medellín, creando un desarrollo urbano basado en la marginalidad y alimentado por las olas de desplazado. El territorio, los deslizamientos frecuentes y la peculiar topografía que rodea la ciudad, son otros temas que también se cuestionan en estos trabajos.

(2011); también fue ganador del primer premio en el I Salón Nacional de Dibujo Universidad de Antioquia, MuseoUniversitario. Medellín. (2000), entre otros. Pertenece acolecciones de Arte del Banco de la República, Colombia; del Museo de Arte Moderno de Medellín (MAMM), Colombia y el Club Fotográfico de Medellín, Colombia, etc.

John Mario Ortiz approaches works in photography, sculpture and animation.
